Calcined Bauxite
Vstake Overseas makes the best quality of calcined bauxite in India.
Calcined bauxite is prepared by heating bauxite ore at tempratures as high as 1550°C to remove all the moisture, impurities like CO2. This increases the Alumina content and reduces the Iron and impurity content in the bauxite making it suitable for high temprature applications.
Here are some common use cases of calcined bauxite.
1. Refractories
Calcined bauxite is extensively used as a primary raw material for manufacturing of various high alumina refractories such as bricks castable, kilns and boilers due to it's heat resistant properties.
Refractories made with calcined bauxite are generally used in steel, cement, glass and non-ferrous metals industries where the temprature are as high as 1500-1900°C.
2. Abrasives
Calcined bauxite is very hard in nature with a hardness of 8.5 to 9 on the Moh's scale. This makes it perfect for abrasive products like grinding wheel, blasting media and sandpaper manufacturing.
Calcined bauxite is also used for metal surface preparation and polishing where extremely low surface impurity is necessary.
3. Steel and Metallurgical Industry
Calcined bauxite is used as a flux in steel production to reduce impurities in the blast furnace.
